The department for water resources management has an ongoing need for analyzes with geographic information. In 2024, this need will increase due to upcoming restoration needs, investments in area protection and the work with the Species and Habitats Directive. Also within environmental tests and work with drinking waterdirective there is an increasing need for GIS resources.

The Environmental Information Unit, Mm, has lost an employee who works with GIS and has been on loan to the Department for Water Resources Management. The support has been necessary to complete several government assignments. Based on the financial situation at myndighet, the service cannot be replaced due to insufficient management budget on the 1:15 grant, therefore the Department for Water Resources Management needs to reinforce with a GIS consultant. The work cannot be completed with existing staff, therefore consultant support is needed. The department assesses that there is a behpractice also during the next year due to increased work tasks.
