Expression of Interest are invited for Project Definition Analysis and Business Case Preparation for Private Sector Participation in container terminals and handling in Durban and Ngqura ports
The primary objective of the services is to assist Transnet through the initial project definition analysis and business case preparation and the identification of potential concessions and private sector participation for container terminal operations in Durban and Ngqura ports. The initiatives that would be analyzed as part of this PDA include: (i) building new container terminals (Maydon Wharf and Point Container Terminal) to increase capacity, introduce competition, and modernize the port; (ii) leveraging private operators operational and commercial expertise to improve commercial performance and operational efficiency of the Durban Container Terminal (DCT) and the Ngqura Container Terminal (through a bring your own cargo approach to bidder eligibility); and (iii) delivering on the DCT Pier 1 Phase 2 (Salisbury Island) expansion and deepening of the berths at DCT Pier 2.
