Description : On December 3, 2019, Treasury Board/Management Board of Cabinet (TB/MBC) introduced the new Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Directive, which requires ministries to track, manage, and report on risks. The Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO) under the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG), Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), has a mandate to implement the ERM Directive and drive the adoption of ERM strategies and approaches across the Ontario Public Service (OPS). However, OPS ERM teams do not have an easy way of inputting or reviewing information about their ministry's risks. This means they may not have a full understanding of their own risks or other ministries' risks that impact them. If this continues, the OPS won't be able to take smart risks and pursue bold opportunities to deliver trusted services, programs and policies to Ontarians. Currently, risk reporting and analysis is being performed by OCRO through the collection of risk reports from line ministries using Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
