Tender Details

The Water and Energy Transition (WET) unit at VITO would like to purchase a testing station for its research into electrical energy storage. This concerns battery technology from various battery types but mainly lithium battery cells. Various types of electro-chemical capacities (ultra caps) will also be tested. Intended uses will centre around electric hybrid vehicles, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Stationary applications with energy storage for decentralised systems, within the framework of smart grid research, are equally important to VITO. The desired device must be multi-functional, whereby a battery configuration can be subjected to high currents, and with it also being possible to simultaneously test multiple configurations with lower capacities. The device will be an extension of the existing laboratory infrastructure and should neatly fit. Since energy efficiency is an importantcriterion, it has been decided to positively evaluate the battery cell tester if it is regenerative.
