The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) is in need of sensors to measure solar radiation from its next-gen instrument platforms including TELOS buoy systems and UAVs such as Saildrone and Seatrac drones. The currently used radiation sensors from Eppley are no longer being made and will need to be replaced. The OTT Hydromet's Kipp and Zonen pyranometers, pyrgeometers anc cables are found to meet the requirements.
INTENDED USE/PURPOSE:
Pyranometers can be used to measure the total solar radiation as well as diffuse solar radiation when shaded, allowing the ability to measure both the total and diffuse components at new observation sites. Pyrgeometers are a device that is used to measure the infrared (IR) components of the solar energy coming into earth as well as the reflected IR emitting by the Earth-s surface, allowing the ability to measure the incoming IR as well as the emitted IR at all of the new measurement sites.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/ESSENTIAL SALIENT FEATURES:
