Description :Offshore wind plays a crucial role in the energy transition. In a growing trend towards more sustainable energy, TenneT is preparing for the new climate targets.TenneT aims to realize and maintain several 2 GW connections for the supply of electricity in the Netherlands and Germany.Thescope includes 525 kV cable connections, amongst others cable connections between offshore DC platforms and landstations. Furthermore onshore connections at 525 kV DC between one or more landstations, Multi-Purpose Interconnector (MPI) projects at 525 kV DC and connections between one or more offshoreplatforms are part of the scope. Each Offshore Grid Connection System receives up to 2GW of 66kV (or higher) electricity generated by offshore windfarms, which must be converted offshore from AC to DC. Via 525 kV cables the DC power is transported to shore, where the DC is to be converted back to ACto enable transportation on the AC onshore grid. The scope may include projects in the Netherlands and Germany in the field of offshore, nearshore, inshore and onshore. The scope of this Qualification System may include the following activities: design, engineering, production, transportation, delivery, assembly, supervision of cable laying, testing, installation and commissioning of 525 kV DC cable systems in order to build and maintain Grid Connection Systems. The earlier qualification systems for NL (no. 171671) an Germany (no. 192897) are terminated and replaced by this Qualification System.
