ADVANCE CONTRACT AWARD NOTICE (ACAN) An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN, on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier. PART 1 - DEFINITION OF THE REQUIREMENT The department of Natural Resources Canada through the Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping Program (FHIMP) has a requirement to generate flood maps for all high priority areas in Canada. To support this requirement, efficient and rapid methodologies for assessing flood and flood related hazards for large areas is required. The work proposed involves the following: 1. Developing and/or testing methodologies for assessing flood and erosion/landslide hazards for large study areas (~1000km2) in Canada and abroad 2. Benchmarking these rapid hazard maps against NRCan datasets 3. Reporting on the rapid assessment methodologies and results of benchmarking exercise 4. Knowledge transfer to NRCan staff 5.
