This Prior Information Notice is about the procurement of 64 Receivers in SKA Band 5b (8.3-15.4 GHz) to be installed on the dishes of MeerKAT. The project will cover: 1) the design of the receivers and the construction of a working prototype, intended to demonstrate the receivers- features; 2) the construction of 64 full receivers + possible full spare receivers. The receivers shall receive the EM signals in Band 5b from the dish structure and shall output two signals (corresponding to horizontal and vertical polarisation), duly amplified. The receivers shall be mechanically hosted on the MeerKAT indexer and shall receive electrical power from the dish system. The receiver shall operate in the secondary focus of MeerKAT optics. The receivers shall operate at cryogenic temperature and assure temperature stabilization to achieve the specified noise temperature and performance stability. The receivers shall monitor housekeeping and telemetry data, shall control receiver operations and communicate with the central controller of MeerKAT. EACH RECEIVER SHALL BE COMPOSED OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS: A)) - PASSIVE FEED SYSTEM (PFS) - This sub-system shall be composed of a circular corrugated horn, a coupler for the mark injection and a waveguide OMT. These components shall be integrated in the cryo-chamber such that their physical temperature is as low as possible to reduce their contribution to the receiver noise temperature.
