In order to improve the access of Central African populations to drinking water and basic sanitation, the Fed/2013/024-259 financing agreement was signed between the Central African Republic and the European Union, for The implementation of the "Water for Peace, Water For Life" development poles program (PEPEV). The objective of the program is to support the National Agency for Water and Sanitation in Rural Environment (ANEA) in its sovereign role. For 2018, UNICEF implements the component entitled "Reinforcement of the capacities of Anea for lasting access to drinking water and sanitation in rural areas. " During the first phase of the project, the activities were concentrated in the prefectures of Ouham, Ouham Péndé, Nana Gribizi, Kémo and on the outskirts of Bangui. Endorsement No. 2 to the contract expanded the intervention zones of the project to the prefecture of Ouaka and Bamigui Bangoran.
