Expression of Interest are invited for Assessment of Opportunities to Reduce Vulnerability and Enhance Fisheries Management and Sustainable Livelihoods in PICs' Coastal Communities Through Targeted Social Protection and Financial Services.

Coastal fisheries provide a vital source of food and livelihoods for coastal communities across the Pacific, but increasing fishing pressure, environmental degradation and impacts of climate change put both the fisheries resources and people who depend on them at risk. The consultant will conduct a regional assessment of existing social protection (SP) and financial services (FS) for coastal fishing communities in PICs and identify opportunities for reducing vulnerability through expanded reach and improved targeting of these services. It will focus on how SP and FS can contribute to resources management and improved sustainable livelihoods through providing incentives to facilitate implementation and compliance with fisheries management measures and mitigating any adverse social impacts. The study will consist of a regional overview combined with a deeper exploration of these issues in three PICs to be selected as case studies to be confirmed prior to the Request for Proposals.
