Object of these works: Renovation of the Lillo Bridge. Explanation: The Lillo Bridge is a rail and cyclist bridge over the canal dock at the Tijsmans tunnel. The bridge dates from 1967 and consists of 6 steel spans, 4 fixed and 2 movable, which are of the Strauss type. The 2 beweighable parts interlock and together span a passage width of 86m between the concrete pillars. Over the years it has become apparent that the bridge is more subject to fatigue than initially estimated, resulting in cracking in the balances. The cracks have often been repaired as oplaster, until the bridge was taken out of service for safety reasons in 2019. Port of Antwerp-Bruges has decided to thoroughly renovate the Lillo Bridge so that it can be used again as a railway bridge. This involves a thorough renovation of the bridge.
