Object of these works: Renovation of the Lillo Bridge.

Explanation: The Lillo Bridge is a railway and cyclist bridge over the canal dock at the Tijsmans tunnel. The bridge dates from 1967 and consists of 6 steel spans, 4 fixed and 2 movable, which are of the Strauss type. The 2 bmovable parts interlock and together span a passage width of 86m between the concrete pillars.

Over the years it has become apparent that the bridge is more subject to fatigue than initially estimated, resulting in cracking in the balances. The cracks have often been repairedpatch, until the bridge was taken out of service for safety reasons in 2019.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges has decided to thoroughly renovate the Lillo Bridge so that it can be used again as a railway bridge.

This involves a thorough renovation of the bridge. The main works that will be carried out will include:The tasks are:

Dismantling and assembling the movable bridges and fixed spans

Steel constructionatform track connection, for inspection of the sensors by Infrabel;

oApplication of reinforcements in the context of fatigue;

oRemoving rails from inspection gondolas;

oSmall steel repairs (Pedestrian supports, pendulum connections, etc.)

oReplacing footpath grids with plastic grids;
