Following a study trip organized from November 9 to 11, 2021 to Japan by FAO for the benefit of Burkina Faso, the government requested technical and financial assistance from FAO for the preparation of the country's application for the SIPAM program to through the TCP/BKF-3903 project. The general objectiveof the project is to support the preparation of Burkina Faso's candidacy for the SIPAM program. More specifically, this involves: • Developing a map of potential SIPAM sites in Burkina Faso; • Strengthen the capacities of the members of the application writing committee; • Identify aofficially recognized SIPAM site; • Strengthen the capacities of SIPAM site stakeholders; As part of the implementation of the project, it is planned in result 1 Product 1 Activity 1.1. conducting a diagnostic study on potential SIPAM sites in Burkina Faso. The present termsreference s are developed to serve as a guide to the conduct of said study. 2. Objectives of the study The general objective of this study is to map potential SIPAM sites in Burkina Faso. More specifically, this involves: • Raising awareness among decentralized institutions and communitiesrural communities as well as the technical executives of the Ministries concerned on the Ingenious World Agricultural Heritage System and the positive implications of a designation of Burkina Faso • Identify potential sites eligible for SIPAM in each of the 13 regions of Burkina Faso; • Characterizationr the identified sites (land status of the site, history, geolocation, description, profile and capacity building needs of the actors, etc.); • Illustrate each site with photos; • Carry out a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats ) of each site; • Suggest a sitecandidate for Burkina Faso; • Represent the results of the study during a national workshop; • Propose an action plan for the dynamic conservation of the selected site (conservation strategy, steps for land security of the site, the budgeted necessary investments, lists ofactivities generating additional income for site users, laws adapted to the area, agro or gastro tourism, potential public-private partnership, transferable techniques on the site, valorization and names of site products, restoration of degraded areas, valorizationcultural and communication (fairs, publications, etc.)). • Submit the description of the site and the dynamic conservation plan to the technical management committee
