Tenders are invited for Scaling up Electric Mobility in Turkiye
The objective of this consultancy is to provide the technical; legal; institutional and policy inputs for the development of a national strategy for the scale up of electric mobility in Türkiye. This strategy should aim to maximize the benefits of e-mobility for the country via more sustainable transportation in cities; industrial and technological development; additional manufacturing jobs; and increased exports to markets in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region and beyond.Although the strategy is meant to support the scale up of electric mobility in general; the assignment should particularly focus on electric mobility solution for public transportation. Being vehicles with a high level of utilization; electric buses used for urban transportation are already cost competitive on a total cost of ownership (TCO) basis in Türkiye and represent a big opportunity to also improve the quality of public transportation and advance the transport decarbonization agenda. At the subnational level; the assignment will mainly focus in the cities that have participation in the SUMP project; including: Istanbul; Ankara; Izmir; Mersin and Gaziantep. Other cities that may be relevant for this consultancy include those among the 10 MMs that the WB is committed to supporting through technical assistance for SUMPs. Besides the four previously mentioned; the additional six MMs are Kocaeli; Samsun; Gaziantep; Trabzon; Kahramanmaras; and Düzce.
