The DLR Institute for Lightweight Systems operates a test field for multi-material materials, in which various servo-hydraulic material testing machines and variable test facilities with linear cylinders are operated. A central hydraulic supply is available for the operation of the systemsem system pressure of 280 bar, which supplies the test field via a ring line.
As part of the research and development of fiber-reinforced plastics for cryogenic applications, a special servo-hydraulic fatigue test rig is being developed at the institute as an extension of the existing testing technologyd to characterize the mechanical behavior of fiber-reinforced plastics at very low temperatures.
