Background:
The ongoing refugee crisis in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has resulted in the displacement of millions of people, including children and youth. Many of these young people have been forced to leave their homes and communities behind and face uncertain futures. The lack of educational and employment opportunities, as well as the trauma of displacement, has had a profound impact on the aspirations and mental health of these youth seeking a better future.
In order to better understand the impacts of refugee policy across the MENA region, the project entitled “Refugees: Priorities vs. Reality” is a three-prong case study across six countries: Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Tunisia and Libya .
ILearn is a Jordan-based organization (ilearnjo.com) conceived in Jerash as an initiative in 2012. ILearn inspires positive behavioral change among young people through empowering local partners and development of knowledge spaces that encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, intellectual growth and critical thinking among children and youth.
This project is in conjunction with ILearn with partner organizations ANERA and FNF:
● American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) is an American 501 non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian and development aid to the Middle East, specifically
the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, Lebanon and Jordan.
● The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) has been active in Jordan since 1984, implementing projects in the areas of decentralization, civic education, entrepreneurship, and free market economy. The Amman Office originally coordinated the Foundation-s projects in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
Objectives:
The primary responsibility of the videographer in Lebanon is to document the final report to capture and present an engaging and informative interview between the refugees expert and the youth advisor by capturing photographs for the three separate sessions.The videographer aims to visually convey the knowledge and experiences shared by both individuals, highlighting the challenges faced by refugees and the perspectives of the youth in addressing these issues. The video should effectively communicate the importance of our insights, selecting appropriate equipment and techniques.Also, employing creative and technical skills to capture compelling footage.
Responsibilities :
● Capturing high-quality video footage for 3 focus groups and one interview
● Planningand organizing video shoots, including location scouting, scheduling, and coordinating with clients or production teams.
● Setting up and adjusting camera settings, angles, and composition to achieve desired visual results.
● Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and equipment advancements to continually improve videography skills.
● Adding visual effects, graphics, and animations as required.
Qualifications:
● At least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field " film and television production, advertising and marketing, broadcasting, social media and content creation”.
● The companies can also submit applications for the videographer position by following a similar application process.
● A videographer should have a strong understanding of camera operation, including framing, composition, exposure, and focus. Additionally, knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) is crucial to polish and refine the footage captured.
● A videographer should be familiar with different types of cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and audio recording devices is important.
● Creativity and storytelling: A videographer should possess a keen eye for detail and sense
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work effectively in a team and in a cross-cultural environment.
Timeline:
The hiring process is expected to take 2 weeks. The focus group discussions are expected to take place over a period of 4-6 weeks, depending on the availability of the participants. The final report is expected to be submitted within 2 weeks after the completion of the focus group discussions.
