Smart Manufacturing enables all information about the manufacturing process to be available when it is needed, where it is needed, and in the form that allows systematic analysis and feedback across entire manufacturing supply chain. This includes the need for multi-scale dynamic modelling and simulation, intelligent automation, and sensor networks for process and performance feedback. It enables industry 4.0 capabilities boosting manufacturing efficiency, agility, and competitiveness. The competence development shall address challenges in the domain of smart manufacturing for space industrial partners, and ESA programmes. It will help the space community to demonstrate emerging technologies before entering in more substantial technology development activities, in particular to:-Benchmark sensors and data acquisition technologies for in-situ process monitoring- Optimize models for process/performance predictions- Optimize digital workflow for manufacturing processes- Apply and optimize digital twin technologies for manufacturing processes- Support the implementation and standardisation for virtual testing for metallic and composite structuresThe expected outcome of this activity are guidelines, feasibility studies, business case and manufacturing process demonstrators such as process modelling, process and part performance monitoring, intelligent process control. The results and conclusions of any demonstration concept shall be made available to the European Space community via publications and news letters.Procurement Policy
