BACKGROUNDThe WHO Western Pacific Regional Committee adopted the Regional Action Plan on Healthy Ageing in October 2020. It aims to support all Member States in the Western Pacific Region (WPR) to achieve the vision for Healthy Ageing. Social prescribing is one of the recommended actions in the plan, as it can help to provide a more holistic care to older people, as well as reduce social isolation and improve community participation among older people.AGE is developing a Toolkit on how to implement social prescribing, including an online training course for the link workers. These resources aim to support Member States in implementing social prescribing as a mechanism for bridging the health and social sectors.The online course on social prescribing focuses on training of prospective link workers. In order to complement the course, the AGE team would like to create a series of videos on social prescribing, which will include interviews with link workers, healthcare providers, and other key partners.
