The object of the Special Urban Planning Study is essentially the once walled city of Corfu, which was developed until the end of the Venetian rule, in the 18th century, with prominent forms of fortifications. The once walled city is the Historic Center of the modern city that stretchesis south and west of it, in the interior of the island and is bounded by the existing road network to the west and south and the sea to the north and east.
Its outline includes the boundary of the area designated as a "Monument" when it was registered in the UNESCO List. (see coguide map for the demarcation of the Old Town, the Protection Zone and the Anadasmos area).
These are the boundaries of the Town Planning Units "1. Cabiello", "2. Cave" and "3. Porta Remunda" as described in the approved with the Ministry. Decision 78140/3271/12-11-1986 (Government Gazette 55/D/5-2-1987) as amended by Minister Decision 27148/20-6-2008 (Government Gazette 283/AAP/10-7-2008), General Urban Plan (GPS) of the city of Corfu.
Within the above overall limit of the Special Urban Planning Study, a special area is preserved, the Anadasmus area, Official Gazette 89B/14-6-1949 "On the implementation of the actuntil the collective arrangement of plots of land destroyed in the area of the old town of Corfu" in accordance with the approved town planning plan of the city (in the year 1947), where particularly complex town planning issues are identified, due to the partial implementation of urban redevelopment, the approved urban plan...
