Description
BACKGROUND: This requirement is to provide a fit/function replacement for legacy asset, Stage 1 Flight Control Unit (FCU) Battery for the Minuteman (MM) III Missile which is used on the MMIII Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).
DESCRIPTION: The current Stage 1 FCU Battery is a remote activated silver-oxide zinc (AgZn) chemistry battery. The Government intends to pursue a thermal battery chemistry design in place of the existing silver-oxide zinc chemistry.
SCOPE: Under the scope of this effort, the contractor shall develop a thermal battery for the Stage 1 FCU, conduct a Qualification test sequence, and following successful completion, provide initial spares and possible future deliverable assets to replenish the stock system inventory through the end of life for MMIII.
After review, the CO recognized the submission date of 23rd December for the SOBR proposal is not conducive to the holidays. As such, the CO is granting a one-time extension to the 10th of January 2025 for final submission of the SOBR proposal.
