SOS Foundation for Development it's a non-profit, community-based foundation established by a group youth active in civil society, who have extensive experience in implementing development projects. The Foundation seeks to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals in partnership with the Triangular development (government, private sector, civil society). As well as human rights agenda, promoting protection; and emergency protection for IDPs, hosting communities; and less fortunate groups, with taking consideration of gender-sensitive, focusing on the developing and empowering of individuals and communities politically, economically, socially and culturally, while raising community awareness and providing support for decision makers on different issues in order to prepare a generation that can participate effectively in decision-making.
1. Background
The "Promoting Community Peace and Combating Disinformation in Aden Governorate, Yemen" project aims to address the pervasive issue of misinformation affecting various aspects of society, particularly targeting women and minority communities. Misinformation campaigns have exacerbated tensions, hindered conflict resolution efforts, and amplified vulnerabilities among these marginalized groups. Understanding the specific impact of misinformation on women and minorities is crucial for developing effective strategies to promote peace and stability in Yemen.
2. Objectives
The primary objectives of this study are as follows:
· Assess the prevalence and sources of misinformation affecting women and minority communities in Yemen.
· Analyze the multifaceted impact of misinformation on targeted communities, including social, economic, and psychological dimensions.
· Identify specific vulnerabilities of women and minority groups to misinformation campaigns, considering socio-cultural contexts and power dynamics.
· Recommend evidence-based strategies and interventions to counteract the impact of misinformation on these communities, fostering resilience and promoting peace.
3. Scope of Work
The scope of work for this study includes:
· Conducting a comprehensive literature review on disinformation campaigns in Yemen, with a specific focus on their impact on women and minority communities.
· Employing a mixed-methods approach to collect both quantitative and qualitative data.
· Designing culturally appropriate survey instruments and data collection tools tailored to the target populations.
· Conducting surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with women and minority communities to understand their experiences and perceptions of disinformation.
· Analyzing the collected data using appropriate statistical and qualitative methods.
· Developing evidence-based strategies and interventions to address and mitigate the effects of disinformation on women and minority communities in Yemen.
