The subject of the performance is the creation of a study on innovative funding instruments in the German research and innovation system that identifies gaps in the German research and innovation system and names challenges that are not yet adequately addressed with existing funding instruments. The current funding landscape must be checked to what extent new, innovative support formats on the one hand or the optimization of the existing instrument on the other hand can give further impulses for increasing the performance of the innovation system. In addition, the study should formulate recommendations for action with a view to the design of new, innovative funding instruments for closing these gaps and the optimization of the existing funding landscape.
