Expression of Interest are invited for Supply Development Program (SDP) in Egypt- Egypt Technical Textile Value Chain Project, 605117

Assignment Description
The IFC in close collaboration with private sector partners and the GoE in Egypt is planning a new initiative aimed at developing local firms in selected segments in the technical textiles sector.
Expanding local firm participation in Egypt's nascent TT sector is hampered by weak local firm operational performance, productivity, market access, management skills and capacity for upgrading. Firms are unable to meet strict international product and export standards or improve export competitiveness to serve international markets and become suppliers to large TT manufacturers. This project will seek to address these issues by designing and implementing a 24 months pilot Supplier Development Program (SDP) starting in March 2022.
A key part of the pilot SDP implementation process will be the carrying out of comprehensive business reviews of participating local suppliers. These baseline assessments against international standards for competitiveness will form the basis for identifying priorities for improvement of the participating local companies and agree on individually tailored action plans that include hands-on training, coaching, and on the job mentoring & support. The firm/consortium is also required to provide access to market activities for selected firms.

In summary, the objectives of this pilot SDP are as follows:
1. Boost the competitiveness of the domestic TT supply chain, in terms of; 1) Competitive strategy & management systems; 2) new product introduction & life cycle management; 3) Manufacturing operations; and 4) supply chain management as well as 6 dimensions of competitiveness: quality, cost, delivery, flexibility, product/technology and customer experience.
2. Increasing the amount of sourcing from current and potential new Egyptian suppliers by FDI firms and/or international buyers.
3. Design a demand-driven and competitiveness-based pilot SDP in close consultation and cooperation with lead firms participating in the project.
