Expression of Interest are invited for Supply Development Program (SDP) in Egypt- Egypt Technical Textile Value Chain Project, 605117.
Note: This project has been delayed for the past 7 months due to internal IFC restructuring as well as the economic situation in Egypt. The project implementation is expected to start in October 2022.
The IFC in close collaboration with the private sector and the Government of Egypt is planning a project aimed at developing local firms in the technical textiles sector (TT).
Expanding local firm participation in Egypt's nascent TT sector is hampered by weak local firm operational performance, productivity, market access, management skills and capacity for upgrading. Firms are unable to meet strict international product and export standards or improve export competitiveness to serve international markets and become suppliers to large TT manufacturers. This project will seek to address these issues by designing and implementing a 24 months pilot Supplier Development Program (SDP) starting in October 2022.
The SDP implementation process will be carrying out of comprehensive baseline assessments for participating local suppliers. The assessments will form the basis for identifying priorities for improvement of the participating local companies and agree on individually tailored action plans that include hands-on training, coaching, and on the job mentoring & support. The firm/consortium is also required to provide access to market activities for selected firms.
In summary, the objectives of this pilot SDP are as follows:
1. Boost the competitiveness of the domestic TT supply chain, in terms of; a) Competitive strategy & management systems; b) new product introduction & life cycle management; c) Manufacturing operations; and d) supply chain management as well as 6 dimensions of competitiveness: quality, cost, delivery, flexibility, product/technology and customer experience.
2. Increasing the amount of sourcing from current and potential new Egyptian suppliers by FDI firms and/or international buyers.
In this respect the IFC is seeking the services of a firm or consortia of consultants with extensive experience of implementing targeted SDPs, supplier chain support, and market access activities. The sector in focus for this assignment is Technical Textiles segments: MedTech, SportTech, MobiTech. Consultants having a strong track record of relevant experience and expertise are encouraged to submit an EOI for the above-mentioned task, including a first indication of the methodology they plan to use for conducting company assessments.
Publication Date: 30-Aug-2022.
Expression of Interest Deadline: 15-Sep-2022 at 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time - Washington D.C.).
