Expression of Interest are invited for Technical Notes to support the Mediation of Conflicts in Indigenous Lands

The purpose of the contract is to prepare Technical Notes to support Conflict Mediation on Indigenous Lands. This aims to support the development of a framework for land conflict management with procedures and protocols for mediating and seeking the resolution of conflicts involving indigenous peoples throughout the national territory. These procedures and protocols will provide a guide to best practices and recommendations for resolving conflicts in a fair and equitable manner, guaranteeing the realization of indigenous rights and promoting peaceful resolutions.

The analytical process and the compilation of experiences and lessons learned will also include aspects related to ethnodevelopment, the protection of indigenous rights, and conflict management based on indigenous protocols. As a result, MIP hopes to provide government entities with a better understanding of conflicts to advance the dialogue. To organize the work, the consultancy should prepare Technical Notes with the following main themes:

1) Predatory economic activities, legal or illegal, that impact indigenous territories, such as land grabbing, leasing, agriculture, cattle ranching and extractivism, deforestation and mining;

2) Infrastructure activities that impact indigenous peoples, such as the construction of small and large hydroelectric power plants, highways, railways, waterways, ports, and transmission lines;

3) Land disputes and other activities under the responsibility of the State, and the use of police forces on indigenous lands.
