EPFL intends to purchase an imaging energy filter and electron energy loss spectrometer upgrade for the Titan Themis transmission electron microscope in the CIME electron microscopy platform.
The equipment will replace the existing spectrometer and energy filterand bringing state-of-the-art electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), electron spectroscopic imaging, and energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy. It should be designed with a direct electron detecting camera for noise-free signal detectionand offer the possibility to perform energy-loss-free filtered in situ TEM at extremely high frame rates. An additional scintillator-based detection camera for capturing high-intensity signals and/or working outside the prioritized high-voltage area is ebenfalls von Interesse.
