Description

This Request for Information (RFI) is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal. It shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to award a contract as a result of this request for information.

The 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron (ECES), 386th Air Expeditionary Wing (AEW), Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, is requesting information from industry in order to identify airfield lighting manufacturers capable of producing solar airfield lighting to supplement or potentially replace the US Air Force legacy hardwired lighting system. To complement fielded runway lights, 386th ECES is considering the use of a suite of individual and interoperable battery-powered, solar-charged devices to satisfy present needs at expeditionary airfield. Necessary devices include: Runway Edge/Approach/Threshold Lights, LED PAPI, Controllers and Mobilization Solution. All devices are required to be controlled remotely and from the same controller(s). Supporting equipment necessary to stow, transport and maintain these devices is also necessary. Broad industry participation is desired but the 386th ECES is keenly interested in designs that are currently in production and commercially available.
