To survey marine refuges for coral and sponge, DFO needs a scientific research Vessel that can stay at sea for at least 13 consecutive days, can conduct science operations 24/7, accommodate at least 11 scientists and is equipped to tow the benthic imagery sled and to launch and retrieve scientific instruments, such as the rosette, the drop camera system, a grab, a box corer and the baited camera system
