Manitoba Environment and Climate Change (Parks) requires a sludge survey be completed for the Hecla Island wastewater treatment facility at Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park.The wastewater treatment facility is a circular lagoon divided by impermeable geomembrane baffles into four (4) cells. These cells function as different treatment zones including a partial mix zone and a setting zone.The lagoon is approximately 6, 600 square metres in surface area with an average depth of 2.45 meters.The work is to include an assessment of the sludge quantity in each of the four (4) cells of the lagoon.The results of the sludge survey will be forwarded to the Environmental Approvals Branch as part of the department-s reporting requirements to maintain compliance with all licenseconditions.
